Anthony Imamura

Chef Architect Consultant

Born and raised in North Carolina, Mr. Imamura has made Washington, D.C. his home-base since 2001. He has combined his dual degrees – Architecture (University of Colorado, Boulder); Culinary Arts (California Culinary Academy, San Francisco) – for over 30-years in the Hospitality & Food Service Industry. Formerly with Whole Foods Market, he served as Mid-Atlantic Store Development & Design Construction Coordinator. He is a former associate with YuiDesign, Inc. specializing in custom commercial kitchen design for star chefs and institutions.

His current focus is on the emerging field of Teaching Kitchen Design/Culinary Medicine Education. He is the Chef Educator-in-Residence at MedStar Institute for Innovation (MI2); Chef Educator for Culinary Medicine at MedStar Health/Fresh & Savory Program; and Kitchen Design Advisor to the Teaching Kitchen Collaborative (TKC). His lifelong passions for cooking and design blend seamlessly with his ability to create the culinary learning labs where both knowledge and education are shared. Beyond the design profession, he builds upon a vast network of professional and personal contacts. He enjoys connecting national as well as local organizations and individuals in search of long-term solutions to their current challenges.

He serves on the Accreditation Council for Nutrition Professional Education Board of Directors, the Georgetown Lombardi Arts & Humanities Advisory Council; numerous charitable development committees; and is a former board member of See Forever Foundation/Maya Angelou Public Charter Schools. A frequent guest speaker & presenter, he balances his professional work schedule by heavily investing in time spent together with family & friends over shared meals, engaging conversations and at joyous celebrations & occasions.
